From Drugs to Christ

One of the most beautiful things in this world is witnessing the amazing works God is doing in people’s lives. Jesus was a champion of the poor, the weak, the captives, and those oppressed. He encouraged us to go preach the good news of His redemptive power to all humanity. It may sound like a taboo but when you look at Jesus’ ministry, He hung out with hookers (Luke 7:36-50, John 12:3) and crooks like zacchaeus (Luke 19:1-10). The lifestyle of Jesus was filled with compassion, forgiveness, love, and restoration of all people regardless of one’s status or background.

One of the most neglected groups of people in society are the drug addicts. These people are hurting and in desperate need of the gospel. God opened up a door to one of rehab centers in Cebu to do a weekly outreach at the facility. Sharing the word of God with them you could purely see a genuine repentance flowing deep from their hearts. The goal is to disciple them and after, they will be integrated back in society.
This is just the beginning. My hope and prayer is that we will be able to reach out to many of these brilliant people being destroyed by drugs.

“… ‘Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind and the lame.’ “‘Sir,’ the servant said, ‘what you ordered has been done, but there is still room.’ “Then the master told his servant, ‘Go out to the roads and country lanes and compel them to come in, so that my house will be full.” Luke 14:21-23
